ELGIN — The Elgin Harvester’s Church of the Nazarene is having a Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24.

Ecumenical service celebrates fourth Sunday of Advent

LA GRANDE — This year the First Christian Church will host the annual ecumenical Christmas service on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m. The community is invited to the service, organized by La Grande’s United Methodist, Zion Lutheran and First Christian churches. The Christmas worship gathering will celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent and include Communion. A time of fellowship follows.

Two services held Dec. 24

LA GRANDE — The La Grande First Christian Church on Dec. 24 will host a community ecumenical service at 10 a.m. celebrating the fourth Sunday of Advent. A special Christmas Eve service begins at 6 p.m.

Regular meetings will not be held Dec. 19-26, and the church office will be closed Dec. 25-26.

Zion will record Sunday’s ecumenical service

LA GRANDE — Zion Lutheran Church will worship Sunday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church as part of an ecumenical service. The service will not be streamed live, but Zion will post a recording of the service on its Facebook page and website. Also on Dec. 24, there will be a Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m. at Zion.

Christmas Eve service to feature Holy Eucharist

LA GRANDE — St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in La Grande on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, will celebrate Holy Eucharist with Rev. Mary Lujan beginning at 4 p.m.

Faith Lutheran announces Christmas services

LA GRANDE — A busy and festive week is planned by Faith Lutheran Church in La Grande. On Wednesday, Dec. 20, a soup supper is served at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6:30 p.m. Advent service with teaching titled “Our Peace Rests on Him Alone.” On Saturday, Dec. 23, Open Gym Recreation runs from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Riveria Activity Center.

On Sunday, Dec. 24, Bible Study is at 8:45 a.m. and a Divine service at 10 a.m. A Christmas Eve candlelight service is at 7p.m. On Christmas Day, a Divine service begins at 10 a.m.

Wards and branches celebrate birth of Jesus

NORTHEAST OREGON — The wards and branches of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will gather Sunday, Dec. 24, for a Sacrament service to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with music and spoken words. No additional services will be held.

The “Come, Follow Me” lesson for the week of Dec. 18 is titled “Christmas” and focuses on the birth and mission of Jesus Christ. Lesson outlines can be obtained from the church’s website or via the Gospel Library app.

The La Grande Stake has planned a 1980s-themed year-end celebration on Dec. 30 from 7-10 p.m. at the church building on Gekeler Lane. The evening will include short skits, performances, music for family dancing and light refreshments.

Celebrate ‘reason for the season’ in Imbler

IMBLER — The Imbler Christian Church invites the community to “celebrate the reason for the season” on Sunday, Dec. 24. The Christmas Eve service begins at 5 p.m. and will feature music and scriptures.

Dec. 21 gathering includes soup and discussion

LA GRANDE — The La Grande United Methodist Church will worship this Sunday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m at the First Christian Church as part of the community ecumenical service. At 4 p.m., the congregation will join Zion Lutheran Church for a Christmas Eve service.

On Thursday, Dec. 21, at noon there will be a midweek soup lunch at the Methodist Church that includes a discussion of miracle births in the Bible.
