High school girls basketball roundup: Powder Valley rolls to sixth consecutive victory

JOHN DAY — Powder Valley had an easy time notching its sixth victory in a row, downing 2A Grant Union, 42-13, on Tuesday, Dec. 19, in John Day.

Team and individual statistics were not provided for the game.

Powder Valley (6-2 overall) returns to the Badger gym on Dec. 21 to host Prairie City/Burnt River (2-5 overall) for a 6 p.m. game. The Lady Badgers previously posted a 44-30 victory over the Panthers on Dec. 8 as both teams met at the Calvin Hiatt Invitational.

Arlington/Ione 39, Cove 23

ARLINGTON — After posting back-to-back wins earlier this month, Cove has hit a tough streak, falling for the third straight game Tuesday, Dec. 19. On the road at Arlington High School, Cove dropped a 39-23 decision to Ione/Arlington.

“I had some younger girls step up in this game,” Cove head coach Kelli Langford said. “We started the year off strong but this is a young team that is just trying to find their way.”

Team and individual statistics were not provided for the game.

Cove (4-5 overall) attempts to break the three-game skid on Dec. 22 to a trip to Prairie City to meet Prairie City/Burnt River (2-5 overall). The Panthers host Cove attempting to break their own losing streak, now standing at four games.
