High school girls basketball: Redmond rallies past La Grande

REDMOND — On the road in Redmond, the La Grande girls basketball team was on the way to a second victory in two days on Thursday, Dec. 21. Leading the entire game, the Tigers watched as Redmond stormed back in the final minutes of the game for a 57-55 win.

“We missed some free throws down the stretch and gave up a couple offensive boards in the final minutes,” La Grande head coach Brian Wright said. “We are playing much better and hopefully will be more ready for Vale down the road.”
The Tigers placed the first points on the board against the Panthers and led 29-22 at the half. The scoreboard continued to go La Grande’s way until the final minutes. La Grande missed a six-foot jumper at the buzzer for the tie.
Carlee Strand, Maezie Wilcox and Olivia Pennington each scored 11 points to pace La Grande.

The Tigers (7-3 overall) will again take to the road on Dec. 28, taking part in the three-day Sisters Shootout.
