Community Bank’s charity drive raises over $29,000

ENTERPRISE — Community Bank raised more than $29,000 in its annual charity drive, conducted between Nov. 28 and Dec. 20.

The drive is a way to collect donations in communities so that they can benefit the charities in area the funds originate from.

The annual event kicked off with a special matching day on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28. All donations collected on Giving Tuesday were matched by Community Bank up to $1,000. A second match period ran the next day and continued through Dec. 20, with each donation being matched up to $1,000.

A total of $29,427.27 in donations and Community Bank matches was dispersed to charities in Northeast Oregon and Southeast Washington.

The bank’s Joseph and Enterprise locations raised a combined $10,679 for the Northeast Oregon Regional Food Bank, operated by Community Connection.

Other regional programs receiving donations included the La Grande Lions Coats for Kids program, which received $5,422, and Made to Thrive, a Hermiston organization for improving the lives of children, which got $4,011. Other donations went to the Community Connection Meals on Wheels program in Baker City, which received a donation of $2,689. The Elgin Food Bank received $1,967. Pendleton’s Children’s Museum of Eastern Oregon received $1,350.

Community Bank’s fundraising charity drive has provided more than $304,000 to charities in the region over the past 14 years.
