High school boys basketball: No. 2-ranked Imbler welcomes North Powder in matchup of OOL unbeatens

Powder Valley at Imbler 

Time: 9 p.m.

Records: Powder Valley (40) 7-7 overall, 1-0 1A Old Oregon League; Imbler (2) 13-2 overall, 1-0 1A Old Oregon League

Overview: After opening the league season with an easy win over Pine Eagle, Powder Valley travels to Imbler to take on the second ranked 1A team in the state. The Badgers are coming off an overwhelming nonleague loss to Union, a game that saw Powder Valley fall by 63 points. 

Imbler, also 1-0 for the league season, is back on the home court after a 23-point victory over Elgin in non-league play on Saturday, Jan. 6. The Panthers are on a two-game win streak after falling to 4A La Grande in tournament action on Dec. 29. Prior to that game, the Panthers were riding a six-game win streak.

Pilot Rock at Elgin

Records: Pilot Rock (44) 4-7 overall, 0-1 1A Old Oregon League; Elgin (60) 2-11 overall, 0-1 1A Old Oregon League

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Overview: One of these two teams will leave the court with their first league victory.

The Rockets opened the season losing the first six games. Pilot Rock then bounced back to win their next four but lost in their last outing to Echo in league play in a high scoring game. 

Elgin is looking to turn around a nine-game skid with a league win before the home crowd. Husky fans have only seen one victory at home this season and that was over one month ago.
