LA GRANDE — Beginning the 4A Greater Oregon League season off with a self-described “horrible” first half, La Grande saw the Baker Bulldogs roll to a 68-31 victory on Tuesday, Jan. 9, in La Grande.

“I am proud of our boys for how they played the second half after a horrible first half,” La Grande head coach Shawn Brooks said. “We showed our true character, demonstrating grit, toughness and pride.”

Baker, the top-ranked 4A team in the state, was out early and led 31-6 at one point in the first half.

“This was not a great start to our league play but we can’t hang our heads,” Brooks said.

Team and individual statistics were not provided for the game.

La Grande (4-12 overall) will step away from league play on Thursday, Jan. 11 welcoming 3A McLoughlin (8-3 overall) to town. Game time for the Tigers hosting the Pioneers is 7:30 p.m.
