High school girls basketball: Elgin looks for first home win since Dec. 8

Pilot Rock at Elgin

Time: 6 p.m.

Records: Pilot Rock (41) 4-7 overall, 0-1 1A Old Oregon League; Elgin (38) 4-9 overall, 0-1 1A Old Oregon League

Overview: The Rockets make the trip to Elgin after falling in their past two games, including a home loss to Echo in league play. A scheduled game against Wallowa on Jan. 9 was called off due to road conditions.

Elgin takes the court before the home crowd riding losses in its past three games, including a road loss in league play to Union. The Huskies have not seen their home gym for a game since Dec. 8, a game that saw Elgin down Alsea, 34-22. 

One of these two teams will take their first 1A Old Oregon League victory.

Powder Valley at Imbler

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Records: Powder Valley (13) 8-5 overall, 1-0 1A Old Oregon League; Imbler (4) 11-4 overall, 1-0 1A Old Oregon League

Overview: The Powder Valley girls make the trip to Imbler after a nonleague loss to Union on Saturday, Jan. 6. The Badgers grabbed their first league win with an easy victory over Pine Eagle but face a much more formidable foe this game.

Imbler has continued to climb the ranks of the 1A standings with their last loss to top-ranked Crane on Dec. 29. The Panthers also won their opener in league action easily, downing Cove, 57-18, and have not lost on their home court this year.
