High school girls basketball: Badgers pour it on in OOL win over Cove

NORTH POWDER — A good first quarter for Cove quickly dissipated as Powder Valley took a 70-20 1A Old Oregon League win over the Leopards on Friday, Jan. 12, in North Powder.

Cove managed a 15-point first quarter to keep the game close before the Badgers started to run away with the game in the second quarter. For the remaining three quarters, Cove could find only five points against the Powder Valley defense.
In the loss, Cove’s Cabella Gregory led the way with nine points.
“The girls had a great first quarter,” Cove head coach Kelli Langford said. “Lots of young players got some minutes tonight.”

Cove (4-12 overall, 0-2 1A Old Oregon League) searches for the team’s first league win with a home game against Joseph (6-8 overall, 2-0 1A Old Oregon League) on Jan. 13.
Powder Valley (9-6 overall, 2-1 1A Old Oregon League) will next see action on Jan. 19 with a trip to Joseph to meet the Eagles (6-8 overall, 2-0 1A Old Oregon League).
