Girls basketball

Game: Joseph at Imbler

Records: Joseph (21) 7-8 overall, 3-0 1A Old Oregon League; Imbler (2) 13-4 overall, 3-0 1A Old Oregon League

Overview: Thursday marks the showdown pitting two of the four unbeaten Old Oregon League teams meeting.

Joseph has downed Wallowa, Pine Eagle and Cove to start the 1A Old Oregon League season off to a 3-0 start. Sandwiched between those victories was a loss to Echo, a nonleague game. A victory on Thursday over Imbler would boost the state rankings of the Lady Eagles significantly.

Imbler hosts Joseph after winning their previous four games including three league contests over Cove, Powder Valley and Wallowa. The Lady Panthers are behind only uneaten Crane in the state 1A rankings and just ahead of 12-2 St. Paul. 

Boys basketball

Game: Joseph at Imbler

Time: 8 p.m.

Records: Joseph (55) 5-10 overall, 1-2 1A Old Oregon League; Imbler (2) 15-2 overall, 3-0 1A Old Oregon League

Overview: This is the final road game for Joseph of an eight-game journey, one that has seen the Eagles go 2-5 so fat. A victory in Imbler over the Panthers would be an upset and move Joseph to .500 in the league standings.

Like the Imbler girls, the Panther boys are behind only Crane in the state rankings. Imbler hosts Joseph after a road victory over Wallowa and on a four-game win streak. The Panthers will play at home on Thursday before hitting the road for an additional league game versus Pine Eagle on Jan. 19.
