Lady Tigers Even Up GOL Standing With Win Over Pendleton

LA GRANDE — Junior Kayle Collman scored 22 points, including 18 coming from the 3-point arc, to lead La Grande to a 50-36 4A Greater Oregon League victory over Pendleton on Tuesday, Jan. 16, in La Grande.

La Grande evened its 4A Greater Oregon League record at 1-1 with the win and improved to 11-7 overall on the season.

Both teams started the game having problems placing points on the board, with La Grande leading only 7-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers started to find the basket in the second quarter and held a 24-17 margin at the half.

The Buckaroos closed the gap in the third quarter, outscoring La Grande 13-9. In the final eight minutes, the Tigers held the Buckaroos to only four points, while La Grande added 17 points to grab the GOL win.

La Grande’s Maezie Wilcox added to the offensive output with nine points.

The Tigers continue league play with a trip to Ontario (4-10 overall, 0-1 4A Greater Oregon League) on Jan. 19. Baker continues to lead the league standings with Pendleton and La Grande trailing by one game. Ontario has yet to find a Greater Oregon League victory.
