WILSONVILLE — Prior to the start of hitting the mats, the La Grande boys wrestling team picked up the No. 1 ranking among the state’s coaches.
Now, midway through the season, the coaches are viewing teams differently as the Tigers have dropped to third in the 4A division after the newest coaches poll was released by the Oregon School Activities Association on Friday, Jan. 19.
Sweet Home, eighth in the preseason rankings, have taken over the top spot in the poll with Crook County, previously tied with La Grande at first, now dropping to second. The Tigers check in third. Pendleton, unranked in the preseason, makes a showing at sixth in the current poll.
There was also some changes in the 2A/1A poll as Elgin now is ranked eighth, down one spot from their preseason pick at seventh.
