PINE EAGLE – “This was a long trip for the win.”
This was the comment made by Imbler coach Tony Haddock after the Panther boys’ basketball team downed Pine Eagle 76-29 in 1A Old Oregon League play on Friday, Jan. 19 in Pine Eagle.
The fourth ranked 1A team in the state opened the game with a 22-point first quarter and led at halftime, 41-15 over Spartans.
Going to the bench in the second half, the Panthers saw 10 players add to the Imbler total.
“We had very balanced scoring tonight,” Haddock said. “Pine Eagle played really hard despite the score.”
Jake Bingaman led all scorers in the game with 19 points. Henry Treat and Justin Frost each added 10 points for the night.
Imbler (17-2 overall, 5-0 1A Old Oregon League) will see the competition a bit tougher on Friday, Jan. 26 as the Panthers host Cove (13-5 overall, 3-1 1A Old Oregon League) for a 3 p.m. game. Imbler started a six game win streak back on Jan. 5 with a 56-40 victory over Cove.
