High school boys wrestling: La Grande perfect at Idaho duals

NAMPA, Idaho — La Grande has returned home after defeating all four Idaho teams it met while taking part in the Skyview Duals on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Skyview High School in Nampa, Idaho.

The Tigers started the day with a 68-12 win over Capital High School followed by a 68-15 victory over Ridgevue High School in round two. Round three saw La Grande down Meridian High School by a score of 57-21 with the day coming to a conclusion with a 67-15 rout of Vallivue High School.
For the lengthy day on the mats, Darren Gulzow (98 pounds) finished a perfect 4-0. Bragen Anderson (106 pounds) went 3-0 and Kallen Blakely (113 pounds) also went home with a 3-0 record. At 120 pounds, Bobby Gulzow recorded a 4-0 finish and Lochlan McCormack (126 pounds) won his lone match of the day.
Mason Wolcott (132 pounds) wrestled his way to a perfect 4-0 showing on the day and Kai Carson did the same 4-0 at 138 pounds. Tommy Belding (145 pounds) finished 3-1 on the day and Noah Collins (152 pounds) finished 4-0 for his day of mat time.

Jaxson Leonard (160 pounds) joined a number of his teammates at a 4-0 record and Ridge Kehr also had a perfect 4-0 showing at 170 pounds. Carson Weimer (182 pounds) wrestled to a 1-2 record and Dex Dunlap (220 pounds) finished 3-1 for the day. Kenai Huff (285 pounds) boarded the bus home after a perfect 4-0 showing.
La Grande returns to Idaho starting Jan. 26 for two days of action at the Red Halverson Invitational at Rupert High School.
