LA GRANDE — Students in Eastern Oregon University’s Health and Human Performance program have revived a free walking program for adults.

Walk for LIFE — which stands for learn, interact, fun and exercise — is a 14-week program operated under the direction of Associate Professor Kelly McNeil. The program aims to increase physical activity to help reduce chronic disease, improve quality of life and reduce stress levels.

Each walking session is hosted at Eastern’s field house and includes free conversation and coffee.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to come to see the field house, get some physical activity, and meet new people,” McNeil said. “In addition, you can help provide community health students’ hands-on experience in designing, implementing and evaluating a community health program.”

Walk for LIFE kicks off Feb. 6. Sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 a.m. until March 14.
