OSAA ranking in parentheses. All games on Friday, Jan. 26. Times listed are Pacific.

La Grande at Baker

Time: 6 p.m.

Most Popular

Records: La Grande (9) 12-7 overall, 2-1 4A Greater Oregon League; Baker (10) 9-9 overall, 2-0 4A Greater Oregon League

Overview: La Grande fans were shocked on Jan. 9 as Baker left Union County with a 48-39 4A Greater Oregon league victory. The Tigers enter the Jan. 26 game looking to repay the favor.

Since the loss to the Bulldogs, the Tigers are 2-0 and are now looking to grab a share of the league standings.

Baker has played to a 1-2 record since taking down La Grande, beating Ontario in league play but falling to Melba, Idaho, and taking a loss to 3A Vale.

Both teams are ranked in the top 10 among the 4A standings but a loss in this game will most likely bounce that ranking out of the state’s top teams.

Cove at Imbler

Time: 6 p.m.

Records: Cove (59) 4-15 overall, 0-5 1A Old Oregon League; Imbler (6)14-5 overall, 4-1 1A Old Oregon League

Overview: This is a meeting of David vs. Goliath with Imbler taking the previous game by a score of 57-18.

Cove continues to search for that first Old Oregon League victory and is on the road looking to break a 13-game loss streak.

Imbler has won five of its last six games but needs to continue putting up victories to stay close to undefeated Echo, the league leader.

Union at Elgin

Time: 6 p.m.

Records: Union (16) 13-5 overall, 3-1 1A Old Oregon League; Elgin (35)  6-9 overall, 2-1 1A Old Oregon League

Overview: This game pits No. 5 vs. No. 6 in the league standings with Union winning the last meeting of the two teams by 30 points.

The Bobcats are 9-1 in their last 10 games, with a loss to Echo the lone blemish on the record. Union had no problem with Elgin in its first game, winning 50-30.

Elgin is showing spark in league play and has posted wins in its previous two games, both Old Oregon contests. Beginning with this game, the Huskies are home for the next three games.

Powder Valley at Pine Eagle

Time: 6 p.m.

Records: Powder Valley (15) 11-6 overall, 4-1 1A Old Oregon League; Pine Eagle (40) 6-11 overall, 1-4 1A Old Oregon League

Overview: Three teams, Powder Valley, Joseph and Imbler, all sit at 4-1 in the 1A Old Oregon League standings and trail 4-0 Echo. Taking to the road, the Badgers need to continue to win to stay close to the Cougars and distance themselves from Joseph and Imbler. Powder Valley makes the trip on a four-game winning streak.

Pine Eagle picked up the team’s first league victory on Jan. 20 with a home win against Cove. The win broke a four-game skid for the Spartans.
