LA GRANDE — Eastern Oregon University announced Monday, Jan. 29, a new series aimed at spotlighting collaborations between the school and local businesses and organizations.
According to a press release, the monthly series — titled “Bridging Horizons” — kicks off by recognizing the long-standing partnership between the school and the Union County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber helps connect the EOU community with regional businesses and events, encompassing initiatives such as the Week of Welcome and internship opportunities linking businesses with Eastern students.
“Collaboration between businesses, students and staff is beneficial for the entire community,” Caleb Sampson, chair of the Union County Chamber board, said. “Having EOU in the community adds diversity that enriches us all.”
Caitlin Harrold, executive director of the chamber, said the organization acts as a community voice and bridges connections between the university and local businesses.
“The pride and spirit I observed at EOU are remarkable,” she said.
Looking ahead, the chamber aims to deepen these relationships, fostering more extensive community engagement and introducing initiatives that strengthen the bond between the community and the university.
“The chamber and EOU partnership is a vital resource for our business environment and our community,” Tyler Brooks, vice chair of the chamber board, said.
