PENDLETON — La Grande swept the season series against the Bucks with a 55-34 Greater Oregon League win Friday, Feb. 2, at Warberg Court.

“We played a good first half, but we struggled to put together a sustained run,” Pendleton coach Tim Foster said. “We had several girls on the bench with foul trouble, and La Grande plays tough defense. You have to take advantage of your opportunities against them and we didn’t.”

The Tigers (14-8 overall, 4-1 GOL) had a slim 28-24 lead at the half, then went on a 27-10 scoring spree in the second half to pull away.

Melanie Boatman led the Bucks (10-10, 3-2) with 10 points, while Hailey Schmidt added eight.

“Melanie showed up pretty big for us early and carried us,” Foster said. “Lea (Wilson) had some great drives to the basket. Every time Hailey started to get a little rhythm, she got dinged for a foul or two and had to come out. Unfortunately, we couldn’t muster enough scoring to stay with them.”
