Transfiguration Sunday celebrated

LA GRANDE — La Grande’s Faith Lutheran Church on Feb. 11 will celebrate Transfiguration Sunday during the 10 a.m. Divine service. As told in Mark 9:3-4, when Jesus took three disciples up a high mountain he was transfigured (underwent a type of metamorphosis) before them. “His clothes became radiant” and Moses and Elijah were talking with him. In the eternal realms believers will talk with Jesus face to face. In the meantime God has given us his word to receive and provides prayer for us to converse with him.

Following the service, the congregation will have its annual cake walk to support a handicapped home.

Variety of Bible study groups offered

LA GRANDE — The La Grande First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will worship at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11. Bible study for adults is held at 9 a.m. before the service.

The congregation is invited to attend an ecumenical Ash Wednesday service Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
