BAKER CITY — Unlike the carnage on the girls’ side of the Old Oregon League tournament, the opening round of the boys bracket went as scheduled as both Union and Cove opened play in the Baker High School gym on Thursday, Feb. 15.
Tied for third in the league standings after the regular season, Union had no problem with No. 7 Pilot Rock, downing the Rockets 54-36. The Bobcats advance to meet league perfect 10-0 Imbler on Feb. 16 with a 3:30 p.m. start.
Cove, tied with Union in the league standings, also advances to the semifinals after a closer 44-43 win over Echo. Cove, like Union, meets an undefeated Nixyaawii team on Feb. 16 with a 7:30 p.m. start.
