High school girls basketball: Imbler Season Ends At Hands Of Cougars

BAKER – The Imbler girls’ basketball team closed out the season with a 40-46 loss to Country Christian in the consolation bracket of the 1A state basketball tournament on Friday, March 1 in the Baker gym.
The Panther girls looked good coming out of the gate, leading at the end of the first eight minutes 12-8. Country Christian returned in the second quarter and as both teams went into the locker room at halftime, the score was tied at 21 points each.
The third quarter is the one that the Panther girls wish could be replayed as the Cougars outscored Imbler 14-8. With both teams scoring 11 points in the final eight minutes, the win went to Country Christian with Imbler seeing the season come to an end.
In the loss, Rachael Stirewalt ended the game with 11 points and added 10 rebounds to lead Imbler. Paige Braseth added four points to go with seven rebounds. Paiten Braseth finished with eight points.
Imbler sees the season come to a close with a 20-9 overall record.
