Soup supper precedes Lenten service
LA GRANDE — Faith Lutheran Church in La Grande offers a Lenten service at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays until Easter. A soup supper is served at 5:30 p.m.
On Sunday, March 17, the sermon at the 10 a.m. service will refer to Mark 10:36. It is proper to ask of the Lord and be ready to be thankful even when the answer is no. A Church Council meeting follows the Divine service.
Elders to meet after March 17 service
LA GRANDE — The La Grande First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will worship at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 17. Bible study for adults is held at 9 a.m. The elders will meet at 11:45 a.m.
Christian Women’s Fellowship will spend the week preparing for the weekend’s rummage sale. The choir practices at 3:30 p.m. March 14.
On March 18, the Mighty Men group meets at 11 a.m. and Bible Sleuths is at 4 p.m. at Jan Musgrove’s house. That evening the Worship Committee meets at 5:30 p.m.
Devotional commemorates Relief Society
NORTHEAST OREGON — Members of the La Grande Oregon Stake High Council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be speaking in most wards and branches throughout the region on Sunday, March 17. Sunday school classes will be held during the second hour.
Also on Sunday, a devotional will be held to commemorate the purpose and founding of the Relief Society, which took place on March 17, 1842. All members of Relief Society and women turning 18 in 2024 are invited to participate. Contact your local leadership for more information.
The ”Come, Follow Me” lesson for the week of March 11 is based on 2 Nephi 26-30.
