LA GRANDE — A Tiger runner has yet to cross home plate but already the La Grande baseball team is receiving attention from the state’s baseball coaches.

The Oregon School Activities Association released the preseason coaches poll on Tuesday, March 12, and La Grande enters the new season ranked fifth, according to the voting of the coaches.

The coaches are picking Scappoose to win it all this year with Pendleton ranked second. Henley came in third in the voting and North Marion/Gervais is one spot ahead of the Tigers in fourth.

La Grande will not start the season until March 19 with a home game against 3A McLoughlin. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
