High school baseball: Bobcats drop season-opening doubleheader

STANFIELD — In a tough start to the baseball season, Union/Cove kicked off the season with two losses on Friday, March 15, with a trip to Stanfield.

Against Stanfield/Echo, the Bobcats managed only four hits with Stanfield/Echo taking an 11-7 victory. Stanfield/Echo pitcher Joe Crawford struck out seven Bobcats in the contest.

Facing Kennedy immediately following the Stanfield/Echo game, Union/Cove dropped a 17-1 decision in a five-inning game.

Union/Cove (0-2 overall) looks for the team’s first victory on March 19 in Nyssa with a nonleague game against Nyssa/Adrian (0-3 overall).

Home fans will need to wait as the Bobcats will not host a game until April 5.
