THURSDAY, MARCH 14

6:26 a.m. A caller told La Grande police about a broken water main at Fourth Street and C Avenue. Officers advised and the city shops department was notified.

8:05 a.m. La Grande police took a report for the unlawful entry into a motor vehicle at The La Grande Inn.

8:55 a.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a dog bite from the 800 block of Hartford Street in Elgin.

9:19 a.m. La Grande police took a report of assault.

9:20 a.m. La Grande police took a complaint for abuse.

12:48 p.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about a dog in livestock on the 600 block of West Bryan Street in Union. An animal enforcement officer advised and will follow up.

1:48 p.m. La Grande police received a call about the burglary of a residence on the 3300 block of Union Street. The responding officers arrested Kelby Richard Johlke, 28, of Pendleton, for first-degree burglary and two counts of harassment.

2:05 p.m. La Grande police took a report for shoplifting at Safeway.

2:51 p.m. La Grande police took a report for shoplifting at Safeway.

3:35 p.m. La Grande police took a report for shoplifting at Safeway.

4:33 p.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about possible animal abuse on the 1200 block of 25th Street in La Grande. The information was logged for an animal enforcement officer.

4:34 p.m. While lodged in Union County Jail, Damon Troy Smaage Jr., 27, was arrested by La Grande police on a Union County secret indictment warrant charging three counts of first-degree sexual abuse and luring a minor.

8:01 p.m. La Grande police responded to the 200 block of Fourth Street for a report of a disturbance. Officers arrested Steven Tyler Jones, 22, for second-degree disorderly conduct.

8:15 p.m. La Grande police took a report of shoplifting at Chevron Jacksons Food Stores.

11:39 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about shoplifting at La Grande Chevron Foodmart. The responding officers arrested Khase Green, 18, and Kenneth Jordan Gill, 19, for third-degree theft. Both were also trespassed from the property.

FRIDAY, MARCH 15

4:13 a.m. Hermiston Police Department arrested Daniel Michael Steven Long, 35, on a Union County warrant charging second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal trespass.

9:13 a.m. A caller told La Grande police about a transient camp on the 600 block of 12th Street. The responding officer trespassed the individual, who agreed to leave the area.

9:18 a.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kay Diane Chatwood, 69, on a Lane County warrant.

9:32 a.m. Law enforcement took a call about a stranded motorist in Starkey. Union County Search and Rescue was called out, but the motorist received assistance prior to their arrival on scene.

10:42 a.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s office about an animal that was in with livestock on the 70300 block of Summerville Road. An animal enforcement officer advised and will follow up.

12:05 p.m. La Grande police received a call about a drug law violation at Cove Apartments. An officer reached out and took the information.

3:22 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about a theft from the 1900 block of Third Street. An officer reached out and took a report.

3:27 p.m. A La Grande police officer was flagged down by an individual at South 12th Street and Bushnell Road about drug paraphernalia. The officer disposed of the item.

4:31 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about possible animal abuse at Grande Wood Apartments and an animal enforcement officer advised.

4:41 p.m. La Grande police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance on the 600 block of 18th Street and took a report.

6:28 p.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about a suspicious vehicle on the 68400 block of Telocaset Lane in Union. A deputy reached out and explained the available options.

7:07 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a suspicious person near Highway 203 and Pierce Road. A deputy responded and law enforcement will follow up.

7:23 p.m. La Grande police took a noise complaint at Pinehurst Apartments. An officer reached out and explained the available options.

10:08 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a disturbance on the 57900 block of Godley Road in Union. Deputies responded and separated the parties.

10:59 p.m. La Grande police received a call about a domestic disturbance on the 70 block of Rapid Run Loop. Officers responded and trespassed one subject.

SATURDAY, MARCH 16

1:16 a.m. La Grande police received a call about a disturbance on the 3000 block of Q Avenue. Officers responded and determined it was an individual locked out of their residence.

1:57 a.m. A caller told La Grande police about two suspicious subjects near the Youth For Christ J House Youth Center. Officers responded and the subjects agreed to move along.

3:06 a.m. La Grande police received a call about a possible trespass on the 2100 block of Third Street. Officers responded and determined the individual was at the wrong house. Law enforcement provided a courtesy ride.

5:55 a.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about the unlawful entry into a motor vehicle on the 700 block of North Ninth Avenue in Elgin. The responding deputy made contact and explained the available options.

12:20 p.m. La Grande police took a report of criminal mischief on the 2000 block of Second Street.

1:42 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about a suspicious vehicle at the Social Security Administration. Officers responded and took a report for unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

2:13 p.m. La Grande police responded to Ace Hardware for a disturbance and took a report.

4:10 p.m. A caller informed La Grande police about suspicious circumstances at Grande Wood Apartments. Officers responded and determined everything was fine.

7:34 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the 75800 block of Palmer Junction Road in Elgin about a stolen vehicle. A deputy responded and took a report.

7:41 p.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about a suspicious vehicle on the 61000 block of Pierce Road in La Grande. The caller made contact with the driver prior to law enforcement arrival and found they had run out of gas. The driver was able to get on their way.

8:12 p.m. La Grande police received a call about a domestic disturbance on the 500 block of Lake Avenue. Officers responded and separated the parties.

10:53 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a domestic disturbance at Walmart in Island City. A deputy and La Grande police officers responded. The parties were separated.

SUNDAY, MARCH 17

7:38 a.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 62800 block of Booth Lane in La Grande for shoplifting. A deputy responded and Ashley Nadine Swanson, 35, for second-degree theft.

9:28 a.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office took a report from the 10500 block of Keltz Lane in Island City for a dog bite.

11:47 a.m. Law enforcement took a report of criminal mischief at the La Grande Church of Christ.

12:08 p.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about a possible trespass on the 63000 block of Owsley Canyon Road in La Grande. A deputy reached out and the subject was warned by the property owner for criminal trespass.

2:14 p.m. La Grande police received a call about harassment on the 100 block of Willow Street. An officer responded and trespassed one subject from the property.

2:21 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a domestic disturbance on the 1600 block of Carolyn Terrace in Elgin.

6:10 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a dog bite on North Main Street in Union.

7:43 p.m. La Grande police arrested Bryan Michael Nearing, 45, on two Union County failure to appear warrants with original charges of second-degree criminal mischief and first-degree criminal trespass. Nearing was also taken into custody on an additional charge of being a felon in possession of a weapon.

9:07 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about a fight on the 1800 block of G Avenue. Officers and a Union County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene. Sidney Jason Rose, 46, was arrested for disorderly conduct and furnishing alcohol to a minor. Dylan Clunas, 19, was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

10:02 p.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about a minor in possession by consumption on the 10400 block of South Valley Road in Island City. A deputy responded and cited one individual.

MONDAY, MARCH 18

1:14 a.m. La Grande police arrested Kathina Marie Ruffner, 19, for fourth-degree assault.

7:21 a.m. During a field interrogation at Safeway, La Grande police arrested Kory Michael Hubbard, 34, on a Marion County failure to appear warrant.

7:59 a.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s office about a wildlife sighting on the 58100 block of Highway 203 in Union. A deputy reached out and notified the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

8:11 a.m. La Grande police took a report of theft at La Grande Middle School.

8:40 a.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about possible animal abuse on Fruitdale Lane in La Grande. An animal enforcement officer responded and took the information.

10:11 a.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office took an animal complaint on Second Street and B Street in North Powder. An animal enforcement officer responded and counseled the owner.

10:47 a.m. La Grande police took a report of a burglary at Safeway.

12:02 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a disturbance on the 64800 block of Sammyville Lane in Elgin. Deputies responded and took the information. Law enforcement will follow up.

12:38 p.m. La Grande police responded to the Chevron Jacksons Food Stores for a report of a transient camp. Law enforcement will follow up.

1:40 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about a trespass at the Super 8 by Wyndham La Grande. An officer responded and trespassed the individual.

10:27 p.m. A caller requested contact from La Grande police about a bicycle stolen from Hideout Saloon. An officer responded and took a report.

TUESDAY, MARCH 19

8:31 a.m. La Grande police responded to a call at Wells Fargo Bank and trespassed one subject.

8:38 a.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office took a complaint of a sex crime in Union.

9:04 a.m. Gresham Police Department arrested Venilla Iceis Princess Blake, 42, on a Union County failure to appear warrant.

9:15 a.m. A caller told La Grande police about a traffic hazard at Jefferson Avenue and Fir Street. Officers responded and told the individual to stay off the road.

12:24 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about harassment on the 200 block of North 17th Avenue in Elgin. A deputy responded and explained the available options.

1:02 p.m. La Grande police took a noise complaint on the 400 block of Division Avenue. An officer responded and law enforcement will follow up.

1:49 p.m. The Union County Sheriff’s Office received an animal complaint on the 69100 block of Highway 237 in Cove. An animal enforcement officer reached out and explained the options available.
