College softball: Parsons throws no-hitter as EOU rolls

LA GRANDE — The 15th-ranked Eastern Oregon softball moved up its doubleheader against Providence to beat the bad weather on Thursday and then beat the Argos 4-0 and 8-0.
Kylie Parsons threw a five-inning no-hitter in the second game for the Mountaineers and struck out eight batters. It was her first career no-hitter. Hannah Tyree drove in three runs and smacked a double to plate two.
In the opener, EOU scored all four of its runs in the third inning as pitching again dominated. Kaylie Hoskins went the distance and struck out 15 and allowing just two hits.
Kelly Monaghan had two hits and Madelyn Durham had a hit and RBI.
Eastern Oregon, now 12-2 in Cascade Conference action and 20-5 overall, is back in action Friday to finish its four game series with Providence.
