College baseball: EOU falls to Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The Eastern Oregon baseball team scored first but could not keep up with Whitman College as the Mountaineers fell 10-3 on Tuesday.
EOU got on the board first in the top of the first inning after a Mason Van Arsdall single brought Joey Freitas home to give the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead. The Blues responded and exploded for six runs in the third inning highlighted by a Sam Mieszkows grand slam to take a 6-1 lead.
Youhyeon Choi had two hits and Mason Van Arsdall had a hit and drove in a run for EOU.
Eastern Oregon is back in action Friday in Salem to take on Corban University. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. The Mountaineers will take an 11-24 mark into the game.
