LA GRANDE — The 15th-ranked Eastern Oregon softball team swept a three-game weekend series with No. 19 College of Idaho to run its winning streak to 10 games.

EOU won the opener on Saturday in dramatic fashion with a 1-0 walk-off win. In the 10th inning, Kelly Monaghan worked a walk to get on base then advanced to second off a Brylin Field single. With Monaghan in scoring position, Haley Tyree poked a single through the right side scoring Monaghan.

EOU’s Kaylie Hoskins threw another gem going 10 innings and striking out 14 batters while only giving up five hits. On the other side, the Yotes’ Annie Polster threw 9.2 innings with six strikeouts.

The College of Idaho was leading 2-1 in the fourth inning of the second game when it was halted due to rain. The game resumed Sunday morning and EOU came out hot with a Brylin Field single to left field which brought home Monaghan to tie the score. Tyree then gave the Mounties a 3-2 lead with a double down the right-field line that scored Field.

In the sixth inning, Eastern Oregon added an insurance run when Hannah Tyree drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing Maddy Stateler home and extending their lead to 4-2.

The Mountaineers completed the sweep with a 4-0 win in the final game. Kylie Parsons and Hoskins combined for the shutout and struck out 11. Addison Ribordy had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run.

With this win, Eastern Oregon improved to 25-5 overall and 16-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, boosting it to the top of the conference standings. EOU is back in action Friday when it travels to Helena, Montana to take on the Saints of Carroll College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
