High school baseball: Bobcats take easy sweep of Huskies

UNION — The Union/Cove baseball team remained perfect in the 2A/1A Special District 7 standings with two victories over Elgin on Friday, April 19, in Union.

The two wins marked three games won by the Bobcats over Elgin in four days. Union/Cove closed out the first game of the day in only five innings, holding Elgin to no runs in a 19-0 game.

Game two, also a five-inning affair, saw the Huskies manage a single run with Union/Cove winning 14-1.

Union/Cove (7-7 overall, 6-0 2A/1A Special District 7) places a three-game win streak and an undefeated district record on the line on Tuesday, April 23 with a home game versus Pilot Rock (7-5 overall, 1-3 2A/1A Special District 7). The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. between the Rockets and Bobcats.

Elgin (0-7 overall, 0-7 2A/1A Special District 7) hits the road on Tuesday, April 23 in an attempt to find the first victory of the year versus Weston-McEwen/Griswold (2-13 overall, 0-6 2A/1A Special District 7). One of these teams will pick up a first district win.
