High school boys golf: La Grande takes third at Baker Invitational

BAKER CITY — Playing host, the Baker/Powder Valley boys golf team ruled the team’s home course with La Grande placing third in the team scoring as golfers hit the links on Monday, April 22, for the Baker Invitational.

The Bulldogs combined for a 301-stroke total to lead the day. Pendleton/Griswold finished second after shooting 343 and La Grande broke the 400-score total with a 386.

Senior Jaxon Doud led La Grande, shooting an 88 for the day. Marco Fuentes also had a score under 100 for the course, ending with a 96.

Gavin Winagar put up an even 100 while Brody Miller ended with a score of 102. Kason Carlson ended his day with a score of 110.

La Grande will have the opportunity to defend the team’s home course on April 26 at the Tiger Open with tee off scheduled for 1 p.m.
