College softball: EOU closes out regular season

ASHLAND — The 11th-ranked Eastern Oregon softball team split four games with No. 13 Southern Oregon over the weekend.
On Friday, EOU dropped the first game 4-3 before rebounding with a 5-2 victory.
The Mounties took a 2-1 lead in the first game as Hannah Tyree singled to right field, allowing Madelyn Durham and Addison Ribordy to score. Gates Leatherwood added a solo home run. Kaylie Hoskins went six innings, struck out 12 and allowed three earned runs.
EOU scored three runs in the fourth inning of the second game as Katelynn Evans drove in a run with a single followed by a Haley Tyree single to plate another run. Addison Ribordy would plate the final run of the Fram with a third base knock. The lead extended to 5-0 in the sixth when Tyree tripled to score Evans and Ribordy brought Tyree home with a base knock.
Kylie Parsons won her 18th game, allowing seven hits, one earned run and striking out 10.
Saturday, EOU dropped the first game 4-3 but took the second 7-3.
In the opener, Ribordy had three hits and scored two runs and Hoskins struck out seven.
EOU closed out its regular season with a win as Karly Hanosky went 4-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Mountaineers, 34-8 overall and 22-5 in conference play, will play in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Friday through Sunday.
