College softball: EOU in title game of CCC tourney

KLAMATH FALLS –The 10th-ranked Eastern Oregon softball team won a pair of 2-1 contests to advanced to the championship game of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament on Monday.
The Mountaineers will have to wait to see who they will play because weather forced action into Monday.
EOU reached the title game by defeating Southern Oregon in the semifinals on Sunday.
Eastern Oregon took the lead in the second inning when Maddy Stateler hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Madelyn Durham to score. Kelly Monaghan followed by grounding out to second base, bringing in Haley Tyree and extending the Mounties lead to 2-0.
The Raiders mounted a comeback effort in the seventh inning, with Jordan Henderson hitting a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Hailey Seva to score and cutting EOU’s lead to 2-1.
Kylie Parsons delivered a standout performance in the circle for the Mountaineers. Parsons went the distance allowing just one run on six hits while striking out five batters.
On Friday, EOU handled Carroll College. got on the board in the second inning when Monaghan singled to right field, bringing in Durham, who advanced to third and scored on a fielding error by the right fielder, to give the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead.
Kaylie Hoskins delivered an impressive performance on the mound going 5.1 innings, allowing just one run while striking out 13. Parsons came in for relief in the sixth and seventh innings, securing the save for Eastern Oregon.
