High school softball: Huskies double district wins

ELGIN — The Elgin/Imbler softball team concluded the 2A/1A Special District 7 season at home with two victories over Irrigon on Thursday, May 9.

Going into the doubleheader with two district wins, the Huskies doubled the number of victories with the day’s action.

Game one went the full seven innings with Elgin/Imbler taking a 12-1 win. The bats for both teams were busier in game two with the Huskies taking the contest, 14-4.

The district season may be concluded but softball remains to be played for Elgin/Imbler.

The Huskies (6-15 overall) are on the road on May 15 with a nonleague game

against 3A Wallowa Valley (16-6 overall).

With 2A/1A Special District 7 games still to be played around the area, Elgin/Imbler finishes the year with a 4-10 district record, seventh currently in the standings. Games scheduled for the weekend could change the standings. Statewide, the Huskies hold down 27th in the 2A/1A rankings.
