High school girls golf: Tigers five strokes of lead after first day of state

BLUE RIVER — The La Grande girls golf team has a few strokes to make up to claim a 4A/3A/2A/1A state golf title. After the first round of action at the Takatee Golf Club in Blue River, the Tigers sit second in the team scores, five strokes behind North Bend.

North Bend finished up the day with a 383 while La Grande fired a team total 388.

For the Tigers, Dylann Justice is just outside the top 10 in the individual standings, currently in 11th after shooting a 90 on the course. Natasha Lane’s 93 holds down 15th, while Emma Bell is 22nd after a 97.

After shooting a 108 on the day, Makayla Hibbert is 38th and freshman Oleya Forbest is 44th.

The individual leader after day one is North Bend’s Cassie Kennon with a 4-over par 76.
