College softball: EOU drops first game

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The top-seeded Eastern Oregon softball team fell to No. 2 seed Georgia Gwinnett at the NAIA Softball Championships Opening Round, 2-0, on Wednesday.

Kylie Parsons went the distance, allowing four hits, walking three and striking outs as Georgia Gwinnett scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Haley Robinson drew a one-out walk in the fourth before Morgan McQuagge grounded and M Talbot singled up the middle to score her.

In the fifth, Angelica Gallegos led off with a single, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a flyout.

EOU managed just three hits with Addison Ribordy collecting two and Madelyn Durham added the other.

The Mountaineers will face the winner of Spring Arbor and Southeastern at 2 p.m. PST.
