High school softball: Big bats come alive in La Grande win

LA GRANDE — The La Grande softball team used four home runs to beat Weston-McEwen/Griswold, 12-1, in nonleague play on Tuesday, May 14, in La
Grande.
Weston-McEwen/Griswold entered the game as the top ranked 2A/1A team in the state.
Maddie Seavert put two balls over the fence in the victory aided by Marti Anderson and Ganesa Porras each adding a home run for the Tigers. La Grande put up 14 hits in the game while only committing a single error.
Three Tigers went to the mound to secure the win. Austyn Meuser pitched two innings, seeing only one hit against her while striking out two TigerScots. Carlee Strand also pitched two innings, striking out four of eight batters faced and allowing no hits by Weston-McEwen/Griswold.
Kallyn Harnack picked up a single inning pitching, allowing one hit and striking out one batter.
La Grande (18-3 overall) continues with nonleague play on May 18, hosting 3A Wallowa Valley (19-6 overall) for a 1 p.m. game. The Outlaws are currently eighth in the 3A state rankings.
