BAKER CITY — Investigators are trying to determine the source of a human-caused fire that burned almost 8 acres near Medical Springs on Monday, June 17.

The blaze, reported around 1:25 p.m., burned in grass and sagebrush and was driven by gusty winds associated with rain storms, said Cody Kingsbury, wildland fire supervisor at the Oregon Department of Forestry’s Baker City office.

The fire started near the Big Creek Road, less than a quarter mile east of Highway 203 at Medical Springs, Kingsbury said.

The Medical Springs and North Powder rural fire protection districts, along with ODF, worked on the fire.
