LA GRANDE — Union County Sheriff’s Office detectives are seeking information about a man who came into the Flying J Travel Center in La Grande at 3 a.m. Monday, July 1, and tried to rob the store at gunpoint.
“It is my understanding that he entered the establishment with the intent to rob them for money,” Union County Sheriff Cody Bowen said.
The man demanded money from an employee of the store, 63276 Oregon Highway 203, but ultimately was unsuccessful and fled, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. Bowen said the clerk did a “very good job” talking the suspect down.
