From the editor’s desk: Variety is the spice of what we do

Published 9:00 am Saturday, January 25, 2025

Dear readers,

Our websites have a feature showing our most popular online content. This week at the East Oregonian, the title goes to Sheila Hagar for her most recent Homeplace column, “Making every breath count.” If you have not read that, it’s worth the few minutes to do so.

At The Observer in La Grande, the top article is on an Eastern Oregon University professor’s sabbatical to monitor birds. At the Hermiston Herald, readers elevated reporter Berit Thorson’s piece on “industrial symbiosis.”

Sometimes in our newsrooms we know what will grab readers’ attention, but it’s clear our readers like variety, from the latest business happenings to features about interesting locals. You can check out all of and much more at each of our websites: East Oregonian, Baker City Herald, Blue Mountain Eagle, Hermiston Herald, The Observer and Wallowa County Chieftain.

Thank you for reading; if you have yet to subscribe, please consider it.
