LA GRANDE — Professional tax preparers, Toni Hamilton and Kayla Immoos, co-own and operate TK Tax Inc. in La Grande and are accepting clients.

“People can make appointments through our receptionist, Bethany Hamilton, who is my sister-in-law, or through our website,” Immoos said. “The standard appointment is one hour long, but if we need more time, we’ll make it happen.”

TK Tax is open year-round, for tax consultations and other services a client may need.

Their hours through April 15 are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Outside the tax season, they reduce their open hours.

Toni Hamilton and Immoos are Oregon licensed tax consultants and enrolled agents with the Internal Revenue Service. As such, they regularly fulfill their Oregon and IRS educational requirements to maintain their practice and stay abreast of current tax law.

“For our Oregon tax consultant license, it requires a 30-hour education requirement every year,” Immoos said. “As enrolled agents for the IRS, which allows us the same practice rights with the IRS as a CPA or attorney, there is a 72-hour education requirement every three years.”

Toni Hamilton and Immoos, both natives of Union County, offer their clients over 50 years of combined professional tax service experience.

“Toni has been doing taxes for 37 years and this is my fifteenth tax season,” Immoos said. “Prior to TK Tax, we worked at a national franchise office until it went corporate.”

That is when the mother/daughter duo decided to go into business for themselves.

“I like meeting new people and making their experience with taxes and personal finance less stressful and easier for them to understand,” Toni Hamilton said.

Together, they offer a full range of tax services to individuals and businesses that fall into the categories of sole proprietors, partnerships, and S corporations. These services include tax preparation, tax E-filing, audit support, extension filing, and tax notice support. In addition, Toni Hamilton and Immoos offer tax planning and retirement tax planning. They do not offer bookkeeping or payroll services, however.

“Our preference is to see our clients face-to-face and go through everything with them because we want people sitting at our desk to know what they are walking out with,” Immoos said.

They do accept tax information that the client drops off at the office or walk-in clients.

They also accept face-to-face appointments, and they will conduct consultations via email or by phone.

“We have all these options, but there are a significant number of people who like to be able to see us in person,” Immoos said.

Interested people can learn about their fee schedules in advance by calling TK Tax.

Fees vary depending upon how many tax forms must be filed for the client.

“There is no one else in our office that touches your tax return but Toni and me,”

Immoos said. ”If you sit down at my desk, I will be the one to do your tax return from start to finish. That is important to a lot of people.”

This year taxes are due on April 15. In addition to the standard tax season, TK Tax will do extensions in the fall if any client files extensions, and they will give estimates all summer long, keeping clients on track during the year.

“Having spent over half of our lives in the tax world, we are ready and willing to assist our clients with any tax issues that may arise with the IRS or the state of Oregon,” Hamilton said.
