LA GRANDE — The La Grande School Board will meet for an executive session 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, then hold its regular monthly meeting.

The board will go into executive session to review and evaluate the superintendent’s annual performance.

Oregon law allows public bodies to meet in these closed-door sessions for a number of reasons, including “to review and evaluate the employment-related performance of the chief executive officer of any public body, a public officer, employee or staff member who does not request an open hearing.”

Following the executive session, the board will meet for its regular monthly meeting, which the public can attend. The meeting will be in the board room at the district office, 1305 N. Willow St. in La Grande.

The meeting agenda includes a number of reports, a presentation from Superintendent George Mendoza on the recommendation for the front entrance remodel at La Grande High School and a consideration of the 2025-26 budget meeting calendar.

Following the regular meeting, the board will meet in another executive session “to consider the dismissal or disciplining of, or to hear complaints or charges brought against, a public officer, employee, staff member or individual agent who does not request an open hearing.”
