- DESERT SMASH 2025 TO BENEFIT WTA FOUNDATION GLOBAL WOMEN’S HEALTH FUND
LA QUINTA, Calif., Feb. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Desert Smash, the world’s most famous celebrity tennis event that brings together Hollywood and pro tennis for charity, has announced the 21st annual event set to take place March 3-4, 2025, at La Quinta Resort & Club.
For 20 years, Desert Smash has proudly raised millions of dollars for charitable causes, which can be greatly attributed to celebrities and tennis professionals who generously donate their time in the name of philanthropy. Notable past participants include Charlize Theron, Will Ferrell, Justin Bieber, Kevin Hart, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic.
Proceeds from the 2025 edition of Desert Smash will benefit The WTA Foundation’s Global Women’s Health Fund in support of UNICEF, where every dollar raised will help fund critical nutrition work for women and children around the globe. As part of the Women Change the Game campaign launched with the Gates Foundation last year, the WTA Foundation Global Women’s Health Fund mobilizes resources for life-saving women’s health and nutrition products and services that are readily available in high-income countries but are difficult to access or altogether unavailable in low-and middle-income countries.
Every dollar raised through the WTA Foundation Global Women’s Health Fund is directed toward the UNICEF’s Child Nutrition Fund. In its first year, the WTA Foundation Global Women’s Health Fund is focused on increasing access to prenatal vitamins for at least one million women. Currently, fewer than one in ten women in low-and middle-income countries take a comprehensive prenatal vitamin, a simple but powerful tool to improve women’s health in pregnancy and reduce the risk of still birth, infant mortality, and babies being born small and vulnerable.
“We couldn’t be prouder to support the WTA Foundation Global Women’s Health Fund as our official beneficiary for Desert Smash 2025!. We are hard at work planning another engaging event focused on raising a ton of money to support all the amazing work they do.” added Ryan Macaulay, Desert Smash Founder
“Our ultimate goal at the WTA Foundation is to unite the tennis community in a way that truly transforms lives. With the support of the Gates Foundation and UNICEF, this year’s Desert Smash will offer a platform for fans to make a meaningful impact. We firmly believe that every woman and girl deserve access to essential health and nutrition, and we are excited to bring more critical resources to address this global issue,” stated Ann Austin, Executive Director of the WTA Foundation.
In 2025, Desert Smash will welcome new and returning talent to the pickleball and tennis courts for two-days of on-court fun battling for a good cause. Among those already confirmed to participate this year are Aryna Sabalenka, Nick Kyrgios, Naomi Osaka, Ons Jabeur, Barbora Krejčíkova, Alexander Zverev, and Holger Rune.
New this year, Desert Smash will be partnering with HexClad, the world’s most innovative kitchenware brand, to offer ticketholders a true culinary experience at the inaugural “HexClad Cuisine Court” where guests can enjoy an all-inclusive array of top chef-inspired culinary offerings as part of the remarkable daytime experience at Desert Smash.
The world-famous Desert Smash is also set to be supported by a suite of luxury early sponsors, including Maestro Dobel Tequila, who will serve its signature Ace Paloma cocktail courtside, Herbalife who is joining as the events’ first ever official nutrition sponsor, HEAD, Mecum Auctions, Thatcher’s Wine, ROAR Organic, BOAST, Rivian, Mountain Valley Water, Suntory ALL-FREE, VCR Group, Zenyara, LumiVitae, SUBJECT, MVA Experiential, Interior Branding California, Benvolio, BC.Games, Miami Pickleball Club, Inner Games AI, among others.
