Union County Commissioners consider Justice Reinvestment Initiative grant

UNION COUNTY — The Union County Board of Commissioners at its meeting Wednesday, March 19, considers a pitch to give support for a Justice Reinvestment Initiative grant.

Valerie Schlichting, director of the county’s Victim Assistance Program, will speak with the commissioners about a letter of support for the grant. And Union County Emergency Manager Nick Vora will share information about an Emergency Resilience Plan grant, request for proposal results and contract for services.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the Joseph Building Annex Conference Room, 1106 K Ave. in La Grande.

The county board also will discuss the Buffalo Flats Project and consider a resolution funding activities for the Oregon Office for Community Dispute Resolution. Commissioners also consider sending letters of support for the Elgin Stampeders Community Hall project and the Qapqapa Wildlife Area.

The board will take public comments before hearing from elected officials, department heads and employees.
