LA GRANDE — A golf club fitting business is opening in La Grande.

Hole in 1 Golf LLC, 1502 X Ave., is holding its grand opening Friday, April 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests may enter for prizes throughout the day, and the winners will be announced at the end of the event and on Facebook.

Sole proprietor Travis Albrecht founded Hole in 1 Golf in April 2024. After building and equipping his shop, he is ready for business. Hole in 1 Golf LLC offers custom golf club fitting services and repairs at its shop.

Golfers who want their golf clubs repaired or fitted may stop in or contact Albrecht at 541-975-8293 or on Facebook. Business hours are Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 1-5 p.m.

Albrecht developed his business concept out of his own need for a more consistent set of clubs, ones that felt and performed the same as his favorite iron.

“My sixth iron was my favorite, and my other clubs were inconsistent, so I wondered how I can make all my clubs feel and perform the same?” Albrecht said.

He learned that professional club fitters can “frequency match” each club to make every iron in the set feel the same, so the whole set is frequency matched. He thought about finding a professional club fitter to do this, but the nearest one was in Boise or the Tri Cities.

“After looking for someone to change my grip on my golf clubs, I began to wonder if I could learn to do that myself,” Albrecht said. “It’s always been my dream to do this properly.”

After looking for training sites, Albrecht enrolled in a five-day club fitting class in March 2024 at Mitchell Golf Club Performance School. It was at the company’s club building and fitting studio in downtown Albion, Michigan.

“Mitchell has some of the industry’s best tools,” Albrecht said.

At the conclusion of his training, Albrecht purchased equipment and tools from Mitchell Golf Equipment Co. to set up his shop and office. He is now equipped with a loft and lie bending machine for irons, and one for putters; a shaft puller, a frequency analyzer, a grip station, a bench cutter for cutting shafts and miscellaneous parts and pieces for club fitting.

With this professional equipment in his shop, he is able to offer many services, including checking and changing the loft and lie, regripping standard grip, regripping with

provided grip, reshafting a club and making custom-built clubs and sets,

“I’d like to be at the amateur golf tournaments Friday mornings if golfers want to get their clubs checked before they play and be there through Saturday night,” Albrecht said. “With my mobile service unit on site, golfers can feel like a pro for a weekend.”

This mobile unit service for amateur golfers is becoming increasingly popular on the East Coast, and Albrecht wants to offer that luxury service here to golfers. To date, Albrecht said that thirty percent of the golf courses in Northeast Oregon welcome his mobile unit.

In addition to golf club fitting services and repairs, Albrecht bought a Foresight GC3 Launch Monitor for club fitting to the individual golfer. That provides Albrecht feedback that determines how he would fit the club to the golfer’s swing. The monitor tracks the ball onto the screen and shows the flight and direction the golfer hit it. This simulator is set up at Hole in 1 Golf.
