ENTERPRISE — While 37 offices are on the ballot in Wallowa County for the May 20 special election, only one is a contested race, according to County Clerk Sandy Lathrop.

Farm owner Rowdy Smith and physician Nick West are competing for one seat on the Enterprise School Board. Voters can check out the candidates Sunday, April 27, during a forum beginning at 3 p.m. at the Cloverleaf Hall in Enterprise.

The Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Wallowa County and Wallowa County Stockgrowers Association are co-sponsoring the election forum. According to a news release, unopposed candidates also can introduce themselves at the forum and after the program meet with voters informally along with Smith and West.

Voters unable to attend may view the program on Zoom. Sign-in details will be available on Facebook at Wallowa County Election Forum.

Ballots will be mailed to registered voters starting April 30. Lathrop will be available to register voters at the forum, and registration can be done by April 29 at the clerk’s office in the Wallowa County Courthouse at 101 S. River St. in Enterprise.
