COVE – A slow start by Cove allowed Powder Valley to build an early lead and cruise to a 63-28 victory in 1A Old Oregon League action on Thursday, Jan. 25, in Cove.

The win marks the fourth win in a row for the Lady Badgers.

“We had a rough start but came alive in the third and fourth,” said Cove coach Kelli Langford. “A lot of young girls are having to step up.”

Cove saw only a lone basket in the first quarter and had only 10 points on the board at halftime. In the loss, the Leopards were led by Cabella Gregory with 11 points.

Team and individual statistics were not make available for Powder Valley.

Cove (4-16 overall, 0-6 1A Old Oregon League) departs the home floor for a road game on Jan. 26 at Imbler (14-5 overall, 4-1 1A Old Oregon League).

Powder Valley (12-6 overall, 5-1 1A Old Oregon League) goes for five consecutive victories on Jan. 26 at Pine Eagle (6-11 overall, 1-4 1A Old Oregon League). Powder Valley handed Pine Eagle a 59-32 loss in the first meeting of the two teams on Jan. 4.
