A dirt and gravel path around the football field serves as Imbler High School's track on Friday, June 9, 2023. Parents and students in the school district are raising funds to replace the path with a quality track.

IMBLER — The community group organizing and planning a track at Imbler High School received good news as the Wildhorse Foundation has awarded the project a $30,000 grant.

Since inception, the Wildhorse Foundation has given out more than $16 million to communities across Eastern Oregon.

The Imbler Track & Field Community Project has now received three grants from major donors in addition to numerous fundraisers within the Imbler community. In addition to the Wildhorse Foundation, the Woodgrain Donation Fund and Ford Family Foundation has also recognized the Imbler group with grants.

The money raised will be used toward the projected cost of just over $1 million to construct a new track and field facility at the high school.

The announcement of the Wildhorse Foundation grant places the goal almost half complete.
