High school softball: Tiger improve to 3-0 on the season after trip to Idaho

LEWISTON, Idaho — La Grande boosted its season record to 3-0 after a successful weekend trip to Idaho.

Traveling to Lewiston, Idaho, on Saturday, March 16, the Tigers swept both games of a doubleheader against the Bengals, taking the first game in a 10-0 shutout followed by a 7-2 victory in the nightcap.

The bats were alive in the 10-0 victory as La Grande pounded out 16 hits for the 10 runs, ending the game early due to the mercy rule.

Carlee Strand pitched the entire game, allowing only a single hit by the Bengals and striking out nine Lewiston batters.

The second game found Austyn Meuser on the mound for La Grande, pitching the seven-inning victory and striking out eight, while allowing six hits.

La Grande put together 13 hits in game two, while recording one error.

La Grande (3-0 overall) will play four games in two days starting March 22 at the WPT Classic in Boise, Idaho. Additional information regarding the tournament is forthcoming.
