LA GRANDE — Residents of Union County can access assistance from the city of La Grande to coordinate well water testing through a Certified Water Testing Laboratory.

The city, which conducts monthly tests and publishes annual reports on its drinking water, will facilitate the testing of well water for harmful contaminants.

Anderson Perry & Associates is working with Union County Commissioner Donna Beverage and the Upper Grande Ronde River Watershed Partnership to spread awareness about options for Union County residents to test their domestic wells for contaminants such as nitrates, lead and bacteria, according to a press release.

The city provides containers for sample collection and sends them to the lab for testing, and the fees are paid by the resident. Tests cost approximately $500 per sample.
