WILSONVILLE — The newest softball coaches poll, released by the Oregon School Activities Association on Wednesday, April 24, did not hold good news for local teams.
The state’s coaches voted to drop La Grande one spot in the 4A poll with the Tigers now holding down the sixth position among teams in the state. La Grande was previously ranked fifth in the coaches’ poll.
After a recent split with Pendleton on a two-game day, the Buckaroos rose in the coaches poll to fourth from a previous fifth-place showing.
The official OSAA rankings has Pendleton in third followed by La Grande in fourth.
A week with a win over the junior varsity of Baker/Powder Valley did not help the Union/Cove softball team in the voting by the coaches. Ranked ninth in the last poll, the LadyCats fell out of the top 10 in the recent voting.
