UNION — The Union/Cove team saw a three-game win streak end on Wednesday, April 10, as the Bobcats fell to visiting 3A Vale, 8-6, in nonleague action.
“We just did not play well,” Union/Cove head coach Greg Poor said. “We had several fielding errors and three huge base running errors that cost us the game.”
The pitching game also struggled for the Bobcats with Vale taking the bases on several walks and being hit by pitches.
“We played sloppy and paid the price,” Poor said. “Hopefully this was a lesson learned.”
Poor did point out Morgan Johnson providing a good start to the game and Micah Jayne closing out the game for the Bobcats as high points in the loss.
Union/Cove (4-5 overall) will continue in nonleague play on April 12 with two home games against the junior varsity of La Grande. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
